09 February 2022 – Visitors who passed through the Brazil Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, this Wednesday (09), had their first contact with the star of this February's programming: Brazilian agriculture. An important pillar of the Brazilian economy, agribusiness is responsible for about 26% of the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP).&nbsp;And the exhibition that is being set up at the Pavilion will occupy Sala Igarapé and Praça das Águas, with six domes that will show more details about national production and Brazilian exports from agribusiness. The exhibition seeks to explain to foreign visitors how aspects such as the sustainability of national agriculture and livestock are worked on. Each of the domes will have videos and a knowledge test for visitors.&nbsp;At the end of the day, the Brazil Pavilion received some members of the Expo 2020 Dubai team for an authentic Brazilian dinner as a sign of appreciation for the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Independence of Brazil, which will be anticipated by the Brazil Pavilion and will also be held in the month of February.

The Brazil Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai reached the mark of 1.5 million visitors since the beginning of the event, in October 2021. Polish Kesia and her son Franek were the lucky ones to register the brand. Afterwards, they were received by the Pavilion Director, Raphael Nascimento, and received gifts alluding to Brazil.&nbsp;Visitors arrived in Dubai four days before their visit to the Expo and decided to head to the Brazil Pavilion to cool off at Praça das Águas and drink Brazilian coffee. Kesia and Franek were so lucky in their visit that even the Expo mascots, Latifa and Rashid were present to record the visit. “It's great to be in Brazil in Dubai, we hope that the next time will be in Brazil. Thank you very much for the pleasant surprise”, commented the visitor, who took the opportunity to drink her Brazilian coffee as soon as the celebration ended.&nbsp;The Brazil Pavilion is one of the five most visited at Expo 2020 Dubai, according to the perception of visitors and the teams working at the exhibition. One of its main attractions, along with the imposing architecture, is Praça das Águas, a large space in the pavilion with a central reflecting pool.&nbsp;“It becomes a refreshing place where you can not only get your feet wet to relieve the heat and the walk through the Expo, but also cool off to wait for the heat to pass”, highlights Pavilion Director Raphael Nascimento. The Brazil Pavilion was designed to be the “Brazilian home” at the Expo and was designed to create an immersive experience about the country, transporting visitors from Dubai to Brazil.

Brazil Pavilion reaches 1.5 million visitors

Expo 2020 Dubai ends on March 31, and the event reached a relevant milestone this Sunday (20): it registered 20 million visitors received since the beginning of the event, on October 1, 2021. The record number allowed the 192 participating pavilions also recorded unprecedented figures and the Brazil Pavilion was no different: 32,000 visitors were received on Sunday (20). And whoever was at the Brazil Pavilion this Sunday was awarded with the premiere of the Itaipu Binacional exhibition, which included the ballet “A Lenda das Cataratas”, by Cia. Quasar de Dança and Cia K, which was the highlight of the day.&nbsp;The dancers dance on the water surface of the Pavilhão Brasil, to the sound of a soundtrack composed by Magda Pucci, with video projections prepared by VJ Spetto and choreography by Henrique Rodovalho. The public filled the Brazil Pavilion to watch the story of Naipi and Tarobá, which will be performed twice a night (at 7:00 pm and 8:50 pm) until the event ends on March 31.&nbsp;Throughout Sunday (20), there was also great movement in other areas of the Brazil Pavilion. Upon arrival, visitors passed an installation that refers to the flying rivers, which is what the connection between Brazilian biomes through rain is called. There, they received an explanation on how this connection is made through water. Then, through a totem, people are welcomed with general information about Itaipu and Foz do Iguaçu.&nbsp;Visitors were also invited to download an application that provides various information, news, an exhibition guide, and a QR code section that allows users to project Atlantic Forest fauna in areas of the pavilion with their cell phone. It is also possible to plant a tree, contributing to the carbon offset of each visitor.&nbsp;The exhibition even has instagrammable booths (inside them, people seem to be under water). With virtual reality glasses, it is possible to virtually visit Itaipu, the reservoir and better understand hydroelectric generation. A vertical garden offers a sample of native essences from the Atlantic Forest. It is even possible to smell the medicinal plants typical of the region.&nbsp;On the second floor, Sala Igarapé has tables with touch screens, where you can browse Itaipu's history and actions, and sustainability content. Next, there is a 360º immersive room showing the water cycle and its relationship with energy generation at Itaipu. Afterwards, the visitor goes through a gallery where he gets to know testimonials from people from the region (Vozes do Território), the use of data in the sustainable management of the territory (Núcleo de Inteligência Territorial – NIT) and Itaipu actions related to the Sustainable Development Goals of the Agenda 2030. The script ends with Science in the Sphere, addressing Itaipu's climate actions.

One of the characteristics of the Universal Exhibitions is that they are great showcases of the countries to the world. The event is one of the most attracting the eyes of people around the planet to get to know and honor the history and peculiarities of each nation. In this edition, there are 192 participating countries, each with its own culture, background and way of interpreting itself through architecture, exhibitions, cuisine, among other characteristics.&nbsp;For these and other reasons, several awards are held on the occasion of the Expo, and Brazil was not left out. A traditional participant in Universal Exhibitions, Brazil is always remembered for the architectural boldness of its pavilions (as in the multi-award-winning Expo Milan project in 2015), the Brazil Pavilion received an Honorable Mention in the Best Elements/Details category, for the translucent membrane that allows walls of the Pavilion in huge screens for projection of images.&nbsp;The Brazil Pavilion is also nominated for the recently announced Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize, a prestigious architectural award organized by the IIT, Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. “The main benefit of these awards is the possibility of publicizing and visibility of the work carried out by the Brazilian presences in the Universal Exhibitions, to attract more and more partners and interested in the next exhibitions. Built on an area of ​​4,133 m², the project proposed, through the open volume, an invitation to encounter and discovery.
